Day 5
(matt)

The roosters here suck... and i think that's why the people who live and work here are so cranky.. The wretched creatures keep them up all night and wake them up way too early. We again were woken up at 412am... they don't wait for the sun to come up.... they crow and screech whenever they want. And the people of the island of Kaua'i are well aware of it.. b/c they sell shirts, hats, cards, bumper stickers, etc... with pictures and saying with roosters on them.
... and it's pitch black dark here by about 7pm... so i assume the locals are in bed by 8pm so that they can attempt to get 8 hrs of sleep by the time the 4am roosters start going nuts!!!

So after a rooster-filled morning... we lazed around until about 1pm

and finally got out to the beach and swam and explored, and jammed out to some reggae music

on the way back from swimming... the rain stopped for about an hour and the mountain waterfalls in the distance were really coming down:

. We had lunch at Tahiti Nui's and had some fresh pork and some more Mai Tais.

We went to Hanalei Dolphin for dinner, and had the best calamari I've had in life... it was a tender as a scallop. We had a bunch of sushi and i had some "poke"(poe-kay).. which is like a raw-fish salad over a bed of rice and cured with lime juice... pretty good!

tonight is our last night at the CoCo Cabana in the jungle.

Tomorrow we head to an Ocean-front property that is steps from the coast. (and hopefully rooster-free)
