Well, today we woke up bright and early after a jet-lagged night and 11 hours of sleep!! We ate breakfast and Jenny had coconut pancakes... Soon after we were headed to Pearl Harbor... and Jenny was ADAMANT about taking the bus, as she has NEVER ridden public transportation before!
Notice how excited she looks:
We arrived at Pearl Harbor, and you immediately get the sense that this place is somewhere the WORLD wants to visit. So many people from all over the world were at the memorial center... it was pretty amazing. We saw the USS Bowfish as well as some other fun artillery:
MAN THE BATTLESTATIONS!!!!!!!
We took a boat out to the USS Arizona Memorial, which was never moved from its place of destruction, and still is the resting place for over 400 soldiers. It was very eerie to see.
It is tradition to honor the fallen solider by pulling the flowers from your lei and tossing them in the water above the center of the fallen ship.
after seeing all of that ... it make you realize how important this is:
After the trip to Pearl Harbor, we walk Downtown Waikiki a bit, we saw a guy with a couple mackaws and snagged a few photos with them:
grabbed a snack and headed to the beach to watch the sunset:
and yes... we try to be photographers....
LIFE..... IS...... GOOD!!!
night set in, and we hit the city for some sushi at Danuku's at an open-sky mall... the food was outstanding... best sushi i've had yet!
we grabbed some mini-bottles of adult liquids and headed back to our room with drinks and a cigar and sat on the balcony till we faded out
.... tomorrow we visit Kauai!!!!!!!
